Dr Neil Hennessy is a Lecturer with the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol in the Cardiff School of Sport. He won his Blue when he was capped at prop by Cambridge in 1999. He captained Wales at university and student levels and then played for Pontypridd, Dunvant, Rumney, Aberavon, Glamorgan Wanderers, Doncaster, Crawshays, Wales Exiles and the Penguins, as well as playing for Wales at U21 level against Scotland in 1998. An experienced coach, he took up refereeing in 2004 when recovering from knee operations. His first ever game in charge was Rhiwbina RFC v Whitchurch RFC. "
