Fred Howard (67)

Prior to his retirement, Fred Howard was a sports goods retailer as well as schoolmaster at Rivington High School in St Helens where he taught geography. He played for Waterloo on the wing until the age of 23 when a serious knee injury ended his career. He was appointed to the England international panel in 1983 and has also refereed five consecutive English Cup Finals at Twickenhan, 1986-90. "
